Deborah Deal

Deborah has been working at Acorns on Church since April of 2016 following a 10 year career with family owned, Black Bear Construction. While at Black Bear Construction, she was the sole designer for new home construction and renovations, responsible for helping her clients choose tile, flooring, counter tops, kitchen and bath fixtures, paint colors, lighting and furnishings, etc. She also provided home staging services for clients listing their homes for sale.
With no formal training in design, Deborah considers this a God-given talent and continuously expands her knowledge while keeping up to date on the latest trends. As long as she can remember, she has had a love for antiques and design, always being asked to design the homes of family and friends expanding over the years to many clients in Highlands, Cashiers and Sapphire, NC. Her portfolio includes traditional design specializing in an eclectic casual mix of old and new.
Deborah is now proud to be part of the Acorns team and since her start here has helped many clients choose furnishings and accessories from the store ranging from one special piece to entire rooms. She provides in home consultations and her goal is to work closely with her clients guiding them through the process to transform their house into a home.

Ian Newell

While Ian has only been a part of the Acorns team for a short period of time, his tenure with Old Edwards Inn and Spa has spanned two years following a retirement from the U.S. Army.

With a military upbringing, Ian's introduction to design and remodeling stems all the way back to his childhood. Growing up in a military family, Ian was not only exposed to different cultures and backgrounds but moving all over the world meant watching his mother create a home with each differing location. And while his style is constantly evolving, Ian's portfolio includes traditional, rustic and farmhouse designs.

Ian believes in making a house a home and assisting his clients through that process. From simple changes, to complete remodels, Ian is there every step of the way. Expect a fun, collaborative environment with Ian, who believes a designer should be the person clients can bounce their ideas off while forming a close and meaningful relationship in the process. Ian looks forward to being that fresh pair of eyes, and an ear for your suggestions, coming together to create a home he's confident you'll love.
