Old Edwards Inn and Spa offers luxury in a European style resort within the mountain retreat of downtown Highlands, NC. Each member of our team strives to create personalized service for a lasting guest experience.

Jack Austin

General Manager

General Manager of Old Edwards Inn and Spa, Jack Austin, has been with the company for over seven years now, having joined as the Assistant Rooms Director in 2010. His résumé lists some of the South's finest boutique hotels and resorts, including The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island, The Cloister at Sea Island, and The Gastonian in Savannah. Just prior to joining Old Edwards, Jack was Guest Services Director at The Greystone Inn on Lake Toxaway. Jack originally hails from Monroe, North Carolina, and is a proud Wake Forest University alum. Jack looks forward to continuing the expansion of the Old Edwards Inn and Spa, along with the Highlands community, through the creativity and leadership that has served him so well in years past.

Karen Rodgers

Assistant General Manager
Karen Rodgers has worked in hospitality since high school, and for more than 25 years since majoring in travel and tourism in college. She has worked at various five star and five diamond properties including The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona and also Sea Island Resort in Georgia where she was as the Director of Housekeeping for four and a half years. In 2008, Karen joined Old Edwards as the Director of Rooms. During her time here, she has helped open the Falls Cottages, Piermont Cottage, Hutchinson House, 200 Main and Half-Mile Farm.

Robert Mickey

Director of Rooms
In Over 35 years, Robert Mickey has worked in all aspects of the hospitality industry and has been involved in achieving the five star and five diamond status at several properties. He has developed a personalized training program for front line employees based on the principal of simply caring for guests. It is Robert's passion to create memorable experiences for guests and members, ensuring that each employee contributes to the positive working environment. Robert Mickey joined the Old Edwards Hospitality Group in 2015.

Elizabeth Gantt

Front Office Manager
Elizabeth Gantt has parlayed the skills of an experienced musician and English major to hospitality. She oversees the front office operations for all Old Edwards properties and manages front desk agents, bellmen, concierge and night auditors. Elizabeth maintains Old Edward Inn's operational excellence by continually evaluating, updating and implementing new front of house policy and procedures. Born in Japan and well-traveled, she is passionate about ensuring the front desk personnel provide world class professional and friendly service for all customers as well as colleagues in other departments. Elizabeth is known for her keen attention to details and problem-solving ability. Her commitment and desire to provide the ultimate customer experience is marked through her staff training skills and her desire to provide an exceptional customer experience unique to each property during every aspect of every visit. Elizabeth believes a world class hotel staff must perform as harmoniously as an orchestra to ensure the best experience and she conducts our staff members to accomplish that goal. She holds a BA in English with a Minor in Music from the University of Georgia.
