OLD EDWARDS INN OFFERS “TOM SAWYER CHRISTMAS TREE FARM” EXPERIENCE: NEW “ELF VILLAGE” WILL DELIGHT CHILDREN
As part of its Comfort and Joy celebration, Old Edwards Inn & Spa in Highlands, NC has partnered with Tom Sawyer Tree Farm to offer visitors a traditional Christmas Tree package—with a few extra perks. In the true mountain-heritage spirit, families can visit the farm to choose their own tree and take it home on the top of their car. But this experience goes beyond choosing a Christmas Tree.
The Tom Sawyer Tree Farm experience includes:
• A wagon ride around the tree farm to the tree area where families select the perfect tree
• An Elf Village in a little hollow surrounded by mountain laurel
• A bridge where children are bestowed with an elf smock and hat as they enter the Elf Village
• A stream running through the village to pond and little tree houses
• A post office where children search for Santa
• Pancake breakfast with Santa and the elves on Thanksgiving weekend and the following weekend
• Sleighs and carriages on display where families can take photos
• Free cider and cookies
• A holiday storytelling area
• A hand-on crafts project area where kids can put together a quick and simple Christmas craft to take home
• A barn with wreaths and garland for sale and where visitors can watch the wreaths being made
• Completing the experience are boughs, pine cones, Christmas music and a little corral where the trees come down from the field to be baled while you watch
Tom Sawyer Tree Farm now offers the service of wrapping trees in burlap so they don’t get sunburned or wind-burned on their trip home to Florida or other faraway places. The farm looks across Lake Glenville at 3800 feet elevation and is open rain, shine or even snow. Hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm beginning the Saturday before Thanksgiving and closed on Thanksgiving Day.
