Old Edwards Inn and Spa presents, A Taste of The South as part of Highlands 5th Annual Culinary weekend on Friday, November 11, 2011.

Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, people and flavors that make southern life so delicious! Meet the farmers and producers, and indulge in delicious recipes specially prepared by Madison’s culinary team with fresh-picked seasonal bounty. Kick up your heels with Curtis Blackwell and the Dixie Bluegrass Boys. And enjoy the southern mountain ambiance of wood, stone and cozy fires at the new Farm Pavilion at Old Edwards.

Upon arrival guests will be passed a tasty Glühwein beverage as they experience food and spirits from the area’s local farmers and culinary artists including Jolley Farms, Sunburst Trout Farm, Barker’s Creek Mill, Dave Taylor Farm, Springer Mountain Farm and Madison’s Organic Kitchen Garden. Yonah Mountain Wines and Nick’s Artisan Beer Selections will be offered to guests throughout the evening.

The menu will include items like Smoked Carolina Trout Salad, fresh fruits and vegetables all from local farmers, Dave Taylors Pork “Pot au Feu,” Duck Prosciutto, Sautéed Shrimp, Grilled Flank Steak, Andouille Sausage with Barker’s Creek Mill Grits, Pecan and Tupelo Honey-Crusted Chicken Breast and much more.

It's a fun, down-on-the-farm festival of the senses and celebration of The South. Also, join us at Madison’s Restaurant on Saturday, November 12 for regular dinner service as well as a special Chef’s Tasting Menu for $65.
